We have been so blessed by the prophetic movement in the American Church, but have we unintentionally replaced our personal relationship with the Lord with the giftings of others? Have we grown so enamored with the supernatural superstars that we have forgotten how personal the Lord is? Have we abused our leaders by desiring them more than the Lord?
Gifts are expressions of Jesus meant to point to Jesus, not to inflate egos or outsource intimacy. We talk about cultivating your own gift with the Holy Spirit: letting Him prune, rebuild, and strengthen your inner life so your outer work carries weight.
The body needs every part, hands, eyes, feet, and the unseen joints that hold us together, and there is a piece of Jesus we can only see when you bring your piece.
There is more for us, Church! We are all called to know Him and the hope pf HIS calling

Welcome And Purpose Of The Show
SPEAKER_00Hey guys, welcome. This is our first episode of 2026. Um things have just been a little crazy, so I was a little bit longer getting back on here than I anticipated. I was sick for a couple of weeks, still don't fully have um my voice back, but that's okay. We're just gonna keep moving on. So um just to reiterate, if this is the first time that you're listening to this podcast, the whole purpose of this whole thing is uh to try to encourage the leaders of the church and those who maybe are not stepping into the role that God's called them to, um, but are called to be leaders. I think that we've had some craziness. Um, I shouldn't, I think I've said crazy like seven times now. But anyway, I think we've had this weird season
Talent Versus Spirit-Led Leadership
SPEAKER_00um with the church where you know we've highlighted certain people with certain callings and we've made them our leaders. And sometimes I think that's been the Lord, and sometimes I think that's just been man, and I think we've promoted a lot of people who are super talented, you know, who are charismatic, who have really great um abilities, and I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, or you know, the Lord doesn't want to use that because of course he does, he gave them to you. Um, but I also think that there's a lot of of people who have relied on those things instead of relying on the call of the Lord or the Spirit of the Lord to move them. I was listening to Rick Joyner recently, and he was saying how he had been praying and asking the Lord, Lord, where is there anyone, is there anyone in your churches who are 100% authentically like letting you move that you're building
A Prophetic Burden To Build Rightly
SPEAKER_00this church, their church. And the Lord said, not yet. And so that put fire in my bones and reminded me of why it's important to even just put this out there into the universe, into the airways, you know, everything that the Lord is doing is spirit. So as long as we're obedient and we put voice to it, we release his spirit over the very things that he's called us to do. And so I want to make sure that I'm releasing my voice and the spirit that he's put in me over what I believe he's called me to
Why Prophecy Matters And Its Limits
SPEAKER_00do and to um to walk with. And I believe I'm called to walk with church leaders and those who were called, and so I really want to um speak about a prophetic word right now, and if you hear my pups, it's cold, and so we're all kind of huddled together with a uh with a little space heater. So uh you probably hear that in the background too. But I really just wanted to speak about getting the prophetic word over your life, you know, we need prophecy, we need the encouragement, the edification of the body, and that is so important. You know, Paul was very um adamant about us not forsaking prophecy, about us making sure there's a place in our heart for prophecy, and so you know, those things are super important. I do believe, however, that we have hung our hat on that a little bit, maybe more than we are supposed to. And so, you know, prophetic words should be confirmation of what the Lord is calling you to do and what he's asking of you. Um, it should be someone coming in and and touching your heart and igniting your your spirit with the heart of the Father. And
Prophetic Words As Confirmation To Act
SPEAKER_00nine times out of ten, I think, those prophetic words release things that you have been sitting on. What do you mean? So I mean there are people who are called to be artists that have yet to pick up a brush because they're perfectionists, or there are people who are called to write worship music, but they haven't learned how to play an instrument, or there are people who are called to speak, but they're so self-absorbed and self-consumed with their own faults and shortcomings, that they're too scared to share themselves with the world. And those prophetic words come as this encouragement of no, you did hear the Lord. You did hear the Lord. Now walk in it. And it's been amazing, and I'm so grateful for the times that the Lord, that the Lord has done that in my life, and the people that He's used to encourage me. Um, even recently, I just I just got a prophetic word about, you know, prophesying and and releasing more than what I am, and so hence why I'm back again, you know, like we have to how do I say that? We have to get over our excuses, we have to decide if that we believe what God is saying for ourselves, or we don't. And so He's been so generous to give us people to come in and to encourage us and to reassure us, but that is children's
Move Beyond Excuses And Immaturity
SPEAKER_00bread. Okay, I shouldn't say children in a sense, not in a good sense, immaturity. That is immaturity because the Old Testament is full of men and women who got one singular word from the Lord, one thought, one vision, one dream, and they left and forsook everything to follow after him. But we have become so numb, so numb to hearing him for ourselves, that we have attached ourselves to ministers and to ministries, and we've pulled on them. I've seen, I have seen people pull on these prophetic people and try to drain them so that they can feel good about themselves, and that is sensual, and that is wrong. It's completely self-focused and self-consuming. That is the wrong spirit. We're not called to that. In fact, if anything, all of Paul's writings, all of Jesus' writings, all of the examples, even in the Old Testament, show us how important it is to lay down our lives, to lay down self and what feels good and just follow
The Sean Bowles Story And Misplaced Hunger
SPEAKER_00the Lord. I remember this one time going to see Sean Bowles. Um, I just really enjoyed a lot of his his teachings, honestly. And I was in this room with probably you know two, three hundred more people, and his teaching was so good, and I felt like there was such depth to it, and I was just so enjoying it, but I'm a feeler, and so I could feel the room, and I could feel the anticipation, and I could feel all these people wanting to gloss over the true word of the Lord, the true prophetic word, which was his message to the church, it was his teaching about Jesus that was so deep and and and pure and sweet and important. It was his teaching that was the prophetic word for the church. But I felt all these people wanting him to hurry up so that he would get to the part where he just spoke over people and he called out addresses and phone numbers and all that kind of stuff, and it grieved my spirit, and we took a break at this one point, and um I was just going to the bathroom, and I was walking past the stage to go to the bathroom, and he had stepped off the stage to speak to um, I think it was the pastor, and this woman, as I'm walking by, comes up behind him and like stretches out her arms and like basks in his glory. It's like she was trying to like soak up his anointing or something, you know, completely strange and and gross like that. And I was in that moment so like he you could tell he was so uncomfortable, and he seems like a nice guy, you know, so I don't I don't think that he would, you know, would say anything or but that grieved my heart so badly because you know what, like, yes, Sean Bowles has a gift, but we all have gifts.
Cultivating Your Own Gift With The Spirit
SPEAKER_00All of us, and we have become so obsessed with so enamored with the gifts of others that we have failed to cultivate the gift in us. We have failed to sit with the Holy Spirit and to let him do his work inside our hearts. We have failed to let him tear down in our lives and build up in our lives and cut off and cast away and all of the things that he has to do internally within us so that we might actually know him to a greater degree. And those gifts and those callings of God are good and important, but they're expressions of Jesus to point people to Jesus, not to ourselves. It's not so that we feel good about ourselves or so that we can we can bask in someone else's glory. It's all about Jesus, and it has to be. Anything less is perversion. And so, again, I go through all of this to say the body of Christ is waiting on you. You need to cultivate your spirit with the Lord, you need to get along with the Lord and let Him speak to you and let Him tell you who He is so that you know who you are. The whole body of Christ is waiting for you. We need the whole body, we need the hands, the feet, the eye, the elbow, the knuckle. We need the whole body. We all have this picture of Jesus, and it's beautiful. God, it's so beautiful, and it I just get enamored with him and and my own expression of worship that
Worship, Boldness, And Life Beyond The Closet
SPEAKER_00he has given me. Like I love that. But I could sit here in my room and worship the Lord forever and never be of any benefit to him because my focus was not in pouring out what he has poured into me. He told me one time as I was worshiping, because I would do that for hours and hours and hours, and one time he was like, This is becoming self-indulgent. Like, I love you. There's never any doubt that he loves us, but he is found in more places than your closet. You know, he's found in your car, he's found in the grocery store. He never leaves you or forsakes you. So you can be consistently with him and not hide yourself. You can walk with boldness and walk with Jesus at the same time. We have this opinion of Mary and Martha, and we've gotten caught up in this one story, and we've decided that it's best for us to sit down and stay silent as the church. And that is not the Lord. Mary had her calling, Martha had her calling too, and they were both important equally. Hey, buddy, I know he's a good
Mary And Martha Reframed
SPEAKER_00boy, and so it's not okay for us to to take the teaching in that moment and uh and apply that to their whole life and then the lives of others. I've had I've heard so many people talk negatively about Martha, and that's not what Jesus was doing. He wasn't condemning her. I'm sorry, I have a buddy who really needs some loving, so I apologize if you can hear him. He's right up in my mic. But, and I'll probably end here.
Show Up Full Of The Spirit Everywhere
SPEAKER_00But I just wanted to encourage you that there's a whole piece of Jesus that we have yet to see as the body because it's been hidden in someone who hasn't stepped out into who they truly are. And that doesn't mean that you need a microphone. That just means that you show up to your grocery store full of the spirit. That just means that you show up to the school full of the spirit. That means that you show up to your kid's soccer game full of his spirit. Wherever you are, you release him. You walk in love. We all need Jesus, and we all need to know him to a greater degree. And I want to know the peace of Jesus that you carry in your heart, because that's gonna give me a better picture and complete the peace that I carry in mind. We
Honor The Cost Of True Ministry
SPEAKER_00are so connected and we are so needed, and we have done our leaders such a disservice. We have abused our fivefold ministers because we have desired their anointing without their walk. We have wanted their gifting without their crushing, and we have to repent, and we have to recognize that our relationship with Jesus is really what matters. That no one is gonna stand before him in our behalf. It's gonna be us. And we are accountable for how we lived in this life. So, Father, I just thank you. I thank you for God, I thank you for your leaders. I thank you for those who who have been through the beatings, the emotional beatings, the the tongue-lashings, the the ups and downs of the crowd. God, I think it's hard to steward success, and I think it's hard to steward
Prayer For Courage And The Church
SPEAKER_00the hatred that comes. And Father, I just thank you for those that that are consistent and diligent to keep walking because you've called them to walk. And I just I just pray, Lord, that those that are supposed to stand up stand. That those that are supposed to come alongside alongside Moses and lift his arms that they do so. Give us courage, Lord. Give us courage to be who you created us to be, to step out and to walk this walk the way that you did, the way that you do, the way that you want to. Father, I just thank you. I thank you for your people. I thank you for your bride, Lord. And we love her. We love your church, God. We love your church, and I just thank you for the healing that's coming to her. And I just give you all the glory in Jesus' name. Amen.
